After two disappointing defeats and two thrilling wins , the firsts had another disappointing defeat hosting Woolpit.

Always a pleasure to host and play against the visitors won the toss and elected to bat.

Will Parker and Kane Munday departed cheaply , Jonty le compte hit a brief 20 but at 50 for 3 Hadleigh had the game by the scuff of the neck.

Andy Northcote survived a very confident appeal for LBW before he got off the mark. He made the most of that by hitting a entertaining 127 with exceptional shot selection and shot execution.

Chris Thomas started very slowly but finished well with 91 and the visitors closed on 301 for 5.

Both Ben Wallis and Kudzai Maunze bowled extremely well the pair going at only 3’s and restricting the Woolpit batters to limited run scoring opportunities.

The remaining bowler unit however struggled to restrict the run rate going at 6 or more in their spells and bowling 22 leg side wides and 5 front foot no balls.

The figure of 22 was going to come back to haunt the hosts.

Marlon Dias and Josh Davey opened the batting again this week.

George Heldreich opening spell was impressive and runs were difficult to come by.

Dias was caught but at 51 for 1 Hadleigh looked well placed.

At 154 for 4 the game still looked to be marginally in Hadleighs favour.

Kudzai Maunze was going well but on 66 he picked out the one fielder on the boundary. Callum Morrin tried to keep Hadleigh up with the required rate but perished on 36.

Jon Block bowled with good control and Le Compte seemed to have the host batters mesmerised , needing 8 an over Hadleigh could only to take 3 runs off 3 of his overs and after 7 overs the spinner had conceded only 28 runs , Kyle Tanner putting that into context when he smashed 20 of Le Comptes 8th over.

Hadleigh fell 22 runs short finishing on 279 for 9.

Hadleigh remain 5th in div one with an average of 14.92 , Woolpit cement their 2nd place in the div with an average of 16.31.
